Registration 2021-2022

Please review the following information outlining documents needed and instructions to help register new learners. Due to COVID-19, our schools will be modifying registration this year to meet health and safety guidelines and support the needs of families. When you register, you will need to produce the following documents:

 “In the event that the District may not be able to accommodate a catchment student within the catchment school, the student will be placed on a ‘School Placement List’ prioritized by date and time of application. The District will accommodate the student at a neighbouring school until such time as space is available.” (Policy No. 7008)

 Student’s Proof of Age – One of the following

  • Birth certificate
  • Certificate of citizenship
  • Court Order
  • Driver’s License
  • Immigration Canada documents
  • Passport
  • Secure Certificate of Indian Status (SCIS), also known as Status Card.

Parents’ Citizenship – (Canadian Citizens) – One of the following

  • Canadian Birth certificate
  • Canadian passport
  • Canadian citizenship card
  • Secure Certificate of Indian Status (SCIS), also known as Status Card.
  • Landed permanent residents’ card
  • Refugee documents from Immigration Canada (with a copy of the Student’s documents, see above)

Work or Study Permits: If you have arrived in Canada with a work permit, study permit or visitor record, Prior to registering at your catchment school you will need to contact the School District Office at 604-534-7891 or wpsp@sd35.bc.ca


Proof of Address / Residency

The custodial parent/guardian must be resident in BC and should produce one of the following documents. (Please ensure that the date on the document is within the last six months).

If you do not have any of these listed below please contact the School Board office

  • BC Drivers license
  • Subject free Purchase Agreement (move in date within 6 months)
  • Municipal tax bill
  • Mortgage statement
  • Utility bill

How to Apply for a Cross Boundary Registration

On or after the third Monday in January:

Step 1: ALL parents must register the child at their CATCHMENT school and provide the following documentation: Child’s birth certificate, proof of parent citizenship and proof of address/residence.

Step 2:Request a cross boundary application form from the catchment school and have it signed by the catchment school principal.

Step 3: Take the signed cross boundary application form to the requested school and submit to the principal. Keep a copy for your records.

Decisions regarding cross boundary requests are generally not decided before June 15 and can either be accepted, denied, or deferred on or before September 15 of the upcoming school year.

Please email Ms. Davies to submit a pdf of your completed registration and supporting documents.  (Please only use Jpeg, Pdf, Png files) If you are registering via email, please submit copies of the registration form and documents as attachments and not inserted into the body of the email. This will streamline the process for both parents/guardians and staff. Registration may be delayed if the required documentation is not provided.

         In-person:

Please call the school ahead to arrange a time to drop-off or a hard copy of your registration. A staff member will meet you in the school foyer to receive your child’s registration and documents. Staff will make copies of any documents required. Registration may be delayed if the required documentation is not provided. Please abide by COVID-19 health and safety protocols, which may include completing a health check upon entering, signing in as a visitor, maintaining physical distancing, and wearing a mask. We will ask all families submitting hard-copy registrations in person to book a time by calling or emailing Ms. Davies.

  1. After your child’s information has been received and reviewed, you will receive confirmation from the school informing you it has been received, along with other information, and further instructions (if necessary).
