Sexual Health Education Sessions – April 11-14
Thanks to the support of the PAC, we are looking forward to our learning sessions with Saleema Noon Sexual Health Educators next week. Mr. Oliver sent an email to all parents & guardians on Friday, March 31. Please make sure you have read that email. It contains much more information than we can fit here. The schedule for the sessions is below:
In advance of those sessions, parents are invited (encouraged, even) to attend the parent information session on Zoom on Monday, April 11, 2023, at 6:30. The Zoom link was in Mr. Oliver’s March 31 email, and will be sent again late this week.
Easter
Next weekend marks Easter, the holiday on which Christians mark the resurrection of Jesus Christ after his crucifixion. This religious and cultural event moves around the calendar, as it is marked based on the lunisolar calendar (combined solar year and lunar calendars), so it falls on the first Sunday after the first full moon after the spring equinox. That’s why it sometimes is during Spring Break, and sometimes after. For Christians, this time is more holy than Christmas, even, and observation can occur over several weeks leading up to Easter Sunday. (source: Wikipedia)
Easter is also marked with the Easter Bunny delivering eggs and gifts to children, though in Australia, the Easter Bilby comes instead, as rabbits are not welcome in Australian homes, given that they are an invasive species there.

Quote(s) of the week

Something to Read or Watch…
When it comes to apologizing, intentionality and accountability matters. #Sketchnote via @sylviaduckworth
BUT, don’t be so bold as to assume number 6.😊
April is Autism Awareness Month, and Sesame Workshop has released a set of resources related to Autism. Whether you know and care for a person who lives with Autism, or your kids (or you) want to understand Autism better, there’s something for you here.
- As spring arrives, the stripey flying friends are back, and we frequently hear about bees from our students (though they’re usually seeing wasps or yellowjackets). I stumbled across this article in The Guardian about the sentience of bees (the real thing, that is). It’s fascinating, though when I got to the robotic crab spider used in the research, I got a little sidetracked (and scared).
