News and Information

Thank You!

Thanks to a pair of local financial institutions whose generous donations have helped us purchase a new game for the school. You might remember 4-Sqaure, but you’ve never seen 9-Square in the Air! It’s amazing fun! We extend our sincere thanks to the Willoughby Town Center branches of both TD Canada Trust and Gulf & Fraser, each of whom made donations to help us with this project. The game will start out in the gym, so everyone can learn the rules, but we hope to set it up outside for recess play as the weather becomes more reliable. Click the picture, and you should download a video of the game in action.

Put the phones away

On Thursday last week, 3 different drivers at the crosswalk used by our children were so focused on their phones that they were not paying attention to Mr. Oliver switching the sign from stop to go. The driveways at school have the same laws around phone use as the roads. Please keep our kids and families safe and our traffic moving. Put your phones away if driving, even if you’re stopped at the crosswalk.

Dogs

We would like to remind families who bring their dogs to school at drop-off and pick-up to pay attention to what the dogs are doing. Last week, a dog, on leash, tried to take a student’s show-and-tell magic wand. It probably looked like a very fun stick to the dog. As some students are intimidated by dogs, it is important to supervise the dogs when there are crowds around. Thank you for your continued cooperation, as it is what allows us to continue welcoming these dogs.

Congratulations!

Congratulations to Ms. Turner and Mr. Turner who welcomed their new baby, Jack, last week! We are all so excited for them as they set off on the journey of parenthood!

Tell Us What You Think

This month, our district is participating in the 2023 Ministry of Education Electronic Anonymous Student Learning Survey Project in cooperation with all other school districts throughout the Province.

Parents/Guardians/Caregivers can complete the online Anonymous Student Learning Surveys any time before 11:59 pm April 29th, 2023, providing immediate results to the school and the district.

For 2023: Students in Grades 4, 7, 10 and 12 complete the survey; Parents/Guardians/Caregivers of Grade 4, 7, 10 and 12 Students complete the survey; and all Staff associated with a School complete the survey.  Schools may survey other grade levels after finishing the grades above.

    4. Complete the survey by clicking on the appropriate circle to answer each question.  Move to the next set of questions by clicking on the right arrow in the bottom right corner of the screen. Click on the left arrow to navigate backwards.
    5. When you are finished the survey, you will get a message “Thank you for sharing your views”.

Sexual Health Education Sessions – April 11-14 (repeat)

Thanks to the support of the PAC, we are looking forward to our learning sessions with Saleema Noon Sexual Health Educators next week. Something to Read or Watch…

  • Are the Pandemic Babies and Kids OK? The title is a bit click-bait-y, I know, but the article was actually partway reassuring. And if you go to the very bottom, there are three pieces of advice that are good, pandemic or no.
