Information

Student Inclusive Conferences are coming…

Some people may have questions about the upcoming Student Inclusive Conferences. Here are a couple of videos that might help you understand how they differ from the Student-Led Conferences you may have attended in the past.

Watch your email this week for a more detailed message from Mr. Oliver about these conferences. We need all parents to attend a conference, as these replace our traditional report cards. If you have any questions, please contact Mr. Oliver.

Multicultural Day is back…

Multicultural Day is coming! Woo hoo! Watch for an email from Mr. Oliver this week looking for families to run tables celebrating their culture at this year’s event. It is planned for Friday, March 1, 2024.

A learning opportunity for 4-year-olds

The district is opening a new preschool program at Donna Gabriel Robins Elementary (soooo close to us!). Click here for the registration form, and here for the parent handbook.

Let’s go to a play…

There are lots of student drama productions coming at Langley schools! They are always excellent.

Softball, anyone?

Quote(s) of the week

Something to read…

  • Student Self-harm is a scary thing for parents and educators alike. I received this resource from Saleema Noon recently that provides parents and other caregivers Smart Things to Say with respect to self-harm. It is well worth a read. In fact, Saleema’s whole series of smart things is worthwhile. It includes resources connected to everything from song lyrics to TikTok to healthy masculinity. Check it out.
  • This was, without a doubt, the coolest thing I saw this weekend:

Researchers used fungi to recreate the entire Tokyo rail network. But the fungi did it on their own. The whole talk is interesting, but I’ve linked to the beginning of the train part.
