Information
Black History Month
February is Black History Month. We will include something each week here in TWARBE, as well as looking at black history in Canada and beyond through our literature and other class activities this month. This collection of resources is from PBS for KIDS in the states, and is a resource for parents.
Expansion work begins this week
Preparation work for the new expansion will be starting this week. You will see fencing start to go up around the hockey box, and around work to provide power to the relocated portables (which will be moving at Spring Break). Please remind your children that while watching the work can be very interesting, they must respect all fencing and instructions from the people doing the work. During our outside times, any work will be halted. Some of our usual paths of travel will be re-routed during this work, so please be attentive when walking the grounds.
Please let us know if you are moving away
Parents are asked to inform the school as soon as possible if/when they know that their children will be leaving our school or not returning in the fall. Please complete our withdraw form and email it to cdavies@sd35.bc.ca
Are you going to be away for an extended period?
Please complete the Student Missing School Time Form, if your student(s) are going to be away from school due to an extended vacation, or a family leave, and email it to cdavies@sd35.bc.ca
Kindergarten registration
If families still have not registered siblings for kindergarten starting September 2024, the deadline to register is March 1st. Any registrations received after March 1st will be placed on a waitlist. Information on registration can be found on our website.
Lost and Found
Check out the lost and found. Items will be donated on the last day of school before spring break.
Diversity and Respect Week
Our school community (and our district) is made up of a wonderfully diverse group of people. This week, we will specifically celebrate that diversity and the many ways we can support and appreciate each other. On Tuesday, wear your rainbows to show solidarity for our community members in the LGBTQ2S+ Community. On Wednesday, join us in wearing pink to mark Pink Shirt Day. Thursday, Express Yourself – be your most authentic self, whether that’s by celebrating a passion, a culture, an interest, or an identity. On Friday, our Multicultural Day caps the week by celebrating and learning about many of the cultures that make our school community so vibrant and exciting.
#ThatWellnessThing (repeat)
Join several of our community partners to learn more about mental health and wellness at the 5th Annual Open House & Community Resource Fair. Please see the poster below for more details. Wednesday, March 6th from 4:30-7pm at the Langley Education Centre (21405A 56th Avenue).

Quote(s) of the week

Something to read…
- Why Pink Shirts? Here’s why… The Pink Shirt Day Story.
- This ad ran with the Superbowl. Strikes me as à propos for Respect and Diversity Week.
- We may still be in winter, but in some places it’s spring. Here’s an eagle cam from Big Bear Valley in California. When I first clicked in, it took me a while of watching initially to know whether it was a still or video. Watch for feathers fluttering in the breeze. Other times, you can really tell it’s a video as the eagles are quite active. We get to see eagles from the schoolyard sometimes (and a raven one morning last week), but never this close.
