Entrepreneur Fair

What a great job our grade 4s did of their Entrepreneur Fair. There were incredibly creative products with even-more-creative names, amazing signage, and enthusiastic (and convincing) pitches being made all ’round the gym. Thanks to all of the parents who supported their kids’ ideas and production, and who came to support the event. And thanks to all the customers who supported our grade 4 vendors.

Nowruz

Over the break, many of our families from Iran will celebrate Nowruz, or the Persian New Year. This three-week celebration begins exactly at the equinox, when the sun crosses the celestial equator, bringing spring to the northern hemisphere. Traditional customs of Nowruz include fire and water, ritual dances, gift exchanges, reciting poetry, symbolic objects and more; these customs differ between the diverse peoples and countries that celebrate the festival. Easter

Spring Break ends with Easter this year. Easter is the Christian celebration of the resurrection of Jesus, which the Bible describes as happening on the third day after his crucifixion. Families will gather at special celebrations that may be in the morning, or be late-night vigils. Beyond the religious aspects of Easter, families from many cultures and faiths will celebrate the Easter Bunny’s visit, finding treats and decorated eggs in the unlikeliest of places.

On a side note, Mr. Oliver was packing up his house to move and found an Easter egg that appeared to be from about 2018. Yuck.

Measles Vaccination Information from Fraser Health

To help keep our community healthy and safe, our partner Fraser Health is sharing important information about the measles vaccine and available clinics over Spring Break. Please review the information here.

They aren’t called portables for nothing

Our portables are on the move this Spring Break! On Wednesday, March 20, our portables 1, 2, 5 and 6 are due to move to their temporary homes across the schoolyard. While there will be safety perimeters set up (of course), some of our students have told me they want to watch. It will probably be fascinating.  If you do swing by to have a look, make sure to do it safely.

Spring Break Travel

If you travel this break, we hope you have a wonderful time, and see many amazing things. Stay safe and we will see you in April!
