Sports Summer Day Camps 2023 – Walnut Grove Day Camps

Hello Parents at Richard Bulpitt! Our team at Walnut Grove Day Camps is hosting summer camps for school aged kids this July, just around the corner at Alex Hope Elementary school. Our week-long multisport camps include a variety of sports, games, and activities to keep your kids moving, learning, and having a blast. Our camps run each week in July on a similar schedule to school hours (9am-3pm). Designed and run by local teachers and coaches, we’ve created our high-quality programs to focus on healthy blend of fun and development. Whether your child is a seasoned athlete or just starting out, our program is designed to be inclusive and welcoming to kids of all skill levels. We want to see kids grow athletically, socially, and personally. To register or learn more, check out our website at https://www.wgdaycamps.ca.

Spring Concert Tickets

We are excited to welcome you aboard Music World, Flight 223 this May. Our students and staff are working hard to prepare a sharing of some of their world music learning from this year.

Showtimes are as follows:

May 10 – 1pm matinee

May 11 – 1pm matinee

May 11 – 6:30 pm

Because we have over 600 students, tickets will be limited.

Ticket Limits – 2 tickets per family at the 6:00 pm performance, and 4 tickets per family for the 1:00pm performances. This is to ensure all families have access to tickets for the performances. Tickets are reserved/issued on a first come first served basis, whether it is the night or afternoon concert.

Tickets will be available on School Cash Online staring Monday April 17th. For fire safety regulations all attending should have a seat, excluding young infants. Please bring your receipt as proof of purchase for entry.

We ask that parents attending the concert stay for the ENTIRE concert so as not to distract the performers or interrupt the performance. This also ensures that all students have an audience, from the first group on stage until the last.

For the evening performance, students are asked to be in their classrooms at 6:15pm (no earlier please). The children will be escorted into the gym to perform. Teachers will be supervising in their classroom when students are not performing.

Doors will open 15 minutes before the performance.

Our hope is that all students will have special guests who are able to view a performance and that all students have the experience of a full audience in front of which to perform.

Thank you for your co-operation. We look forward to a successful day of concerts.

Vaisakhi

Mr. Oliver missed letting everyone know about Vaisakhi in last week’s newsletter (sorry about that), but we hope you all had a happy Vaisakhi, just the same. If you’re looking for an amazing experience, the Vaisakhi Parade in Surrey happening this Saturday (April 22) is not to be missed. It’s the biggest in the world.

Eid

Thursday evening marks the end of Ramadan for Muslim people around the world. Families will gather, pray, and break the ritual fast of Ramadan. We wish all Muslim people a happy Eid!

Eid Mubarak

We’re already planning for September 2023

As we work on organizing the school for September 2023, we would very much appreciate you letting us know if you are planning to move away from our school. Every seat we expect to have will be in high demand, and it helps us a lot to know in advance if students will be leaving.

Tell Us What You Think (repeat)

This month, our district is participating in the 2023 Ministry of Education Electronic Anonymous Student Learning Survey Project in cooperation with all other school districts throughout the Province.

Parents/Guardians/Caregivers can complete the online Anonymous Student Learning Surveys any time before 11:59 pm April 29th, 2023, providing immediate results to the school and the district.

Quote(s) of the week

Something to Read or Watch…

  • This is unlike what I usually share, but I’ve had some neat conversations with students over the last couple of years about cars, and I thought some might find this recently-found collection of classic cars interesting. I can’t get over how many rare cars there are, or how many convertibles are sitting there with their tops down. These are going to need a lot more than a wash and vacuum!

  • I came across this thread on Twitter, and I liked it! It tells the story of delivering a violin to an Afghan immigrant in Los Angeles.
