This Week at RBE – April 17, 2022

Information

Earth Day

Earth Day is coming next Friday. We’d love to see all our Bulldogs arrive on foot  (or otherwise self-propelled) that day, rather than driving.

We’ll also be doing Lights Out Lunch all week.

Passover

This week marks Passover for our Bulldogs of Jewish faith. The eight-day Jewish holiday of Passover is celebrated in the early spring, from the 15th through the 22nd of the Hebrew month of Nissan, April 15 – 23, 2022. Passover (Pesach) commemorates the emancipation of the Israelites from slavery in ancient Egypt. Pesach is observed by avoiding leaven, and highlighted by the Seder meals that include four cups of wine, eating matzah and bitter herbs, and retelling the story of the Exodus. Easter

In the Christian faith, Easter is more than bunnies and eggs. It is also a Christian festival and cultural holiday commemorating the resurrection of Jesus from the dead. Celebration of Easter begins a week before Easter, on Palm Sunday, and carries on through Good Friday (when Jesus was crucified by the Romans) and then Easter Sunday when he rose from the dead. Christians around the world celebrate by gathering, and with traditional meals. (source: Wikipedia).

Summer Session 2022

It’s that time of year when the staff in Langley start planning the Summer Session offerings so many kids enjoy and benefit from. It’s sure not the ‘you failed’ Summer School from when I was a kid! In place of a brochure this year, all Summer Session information will be communicated here. Things are still in the planning phase, but we wanted to put this on your radar. Watch future TWARBE issues for details as they come available.

Alternative Fundraiser

Due to the unprecedented nature of COVID-19 we have been limited in the ability to hold regular events to fundraise for our staff and students. This year the PAC would like to offer parents a new way to donate directly to the PAC, for those who do not wish to purchase goods or have limited time to participate in events.

A direct donation of $40 would be the equivalent to your child raising $275 through fundraising activities (Purdy’s, Neufelds, etc.).   Funds raised go towards supporting teachers in their classrooms, busses for field trips, programs such as Dance Pl3y, Saleema Noon and more!

If you wish to make a direct donation, please send an e-transfer to bulpittpac@outlook.com with direct donation in the Message line.  Please note, at this time we are unable to provide tax receipts.

Thank you to those who have contributed!

Next General Meeting

Don’t forget – our next meeting will be Monday, May 9 at 7pm via Zoom. – all parents are welcome to attend!  Our AGM and PAC Elections will be held on Monday, June 6 at 7pm in the Library.  If you are interested in becoming a member of our PAC, please email to bulpittpac@outlook.com.

Quote(s) of the week

Something to read (or watch)

  • April is Autism Awareness Month, and a friend shared this resource about the Autistic brain which I found easy to understand and very interesting. Click here for a full sequence of informative infographics that help typical folks understand the Autistic brain. Despite my having worked in education for almost 30 years, and having worked with numerous students who live with autism, I learned a lot by reading these. If you have a person with Autism in your life, the originating website, neuroclastic, has a wealth of information.
