Information

Vancouver Canucks updated their cover... - Vancouver Canucks

Canucks Day is Tuesday

Wear your blue and green on Tuesday to celebrate the Canucks! Go, Canucks, go!

Anything but a backpack…

We saw some pretty fantastic creativity on Friday, what with suitcases, an octopus, pet carriers, a beach chair and a fancy rolling tool box (Mr. Oliver is jealous of that one) in place of backpacks. It was perfect timing for a hot lunch so we weren’t all carrying bulkly lunchbags in some of the kids’ alternates. Well done, Bulldogs, for your excellent practical creativity (or is that creative practicality?).

YogaPl3y

You know the kids are getting lots out of their YogaPl3y experience when they continue practicing their poses outside at recess. It’s not all ‘serious’ yoga, mind you. It’s very playful (hence the name, I guess). Check the ‘pass the ball with your feet’ game!

The shipping container is really arriving…

The container we warned you about last week really is coming this time. This Tuesday, April 23, please expect the north parking lot to be blocked off at the end of the day, and for all vehicles to need to be moved from the gym eastwards. Sorry for the inconvenience and the change in plan.

Child Day

Please let us know if you are moving away

Parents are asked to inform the school as soon as possible if/when they know that their children will be leaving our school or not returning in the fall. Please complete our withdraw form and email it to  cdavies@sd35.bc.ca

Quote(s) of the week

Something to read (or watch)…

  • I came across this very interesting article about how humans form prejudices psychologically, right back to childhood. It indicates a point where, in our categorization of things, we creat an ‘other’ category rather than including someone new in one of the positive categories (family is generally the first one) we have already formed.
  • This one isn’t for the kids, necessarily, though it could be adapted, I suppose. I came across the 100-word Microfiction Challenge the other day. It got me wondering what I’d write if I had to write a 100-word story. Or a rhyming story as in the Rhyming Story Challenge.
