News and Information
Welcome back, Bulldogs!
We hope you had a restful Spring Break, Bulldogs, and that you are excited to continue learning with us in the spring.
Ramadan Mubarak
Starting last Wednesday evening, Muslim people around the world began the observation of the Holy Month of Ramadan. This observation takes place during a lunar month each year, and is a period of reflection and self-restraint in which people fast between sunrise and sunset, They also refrain from unkind words, and from bad thoughts and actions. To all of the RBE families observing Ramadan, we wish you a blessed Ramadan.

Quote(s) of the week

Something to Read or Watch…
- I don’t know why I was thinking about the Great Lakes over the break, because I was nowhere near them, but I was thinking about them. I came across this set of facts about the Great Lakes. Did you know that if you spread the water from them out across North America, the water would be 1.5m deep? It occurred to me that I’ve swum in all five of them at some point in my life (most recently 30 years ago), and that Lake Superior is so cold I’d probably never swim in it again.
- It’s baby bird season. I’ve found a couple of bird cams where you can watch the nesting season live. It is neat, and sometimes icky, watching the whole process.
- Great Blue Herons in Stanley Park are back. Click here for the main page which includes instructions for operating the cameras.
- It’s a bit early in the year for this Osprey nest cam in Montana, as it’s covered in snow, but it will come alive eventually. In the meanwhile, you can see some highlights from previous seasons
- The Bald Eagles are coming back to nest, too. This camera in Surrey is aimed at a nest that is already active. Other cams through the Hancock Wildlife Foundation are pointed at nests elsewhere.
- Not a live cam, but the entire Bluebird nesting process in a nest box.
