Information

Welcome Back!

We hope you all had a restful and rejuvenating Spring Break, with safe travels and epic adventures of one sort or another. As we return to school, please drive carefully, and help us keep our walking Bulldogs safe. Even better, park the car and walk to school in the springtime weather.

COVID-19 Protocols

Just before the break, the government and PHO announced updated guidance for schools with respect to COVID-19. The new guidance includes continued daily health checks, staying home when sick and practicing hand hygiene and respiratory etiquette. The PHO also announced that masks will no longer be required for students, staff and visitors. If what I have seen in places like grocery stores and malls is any indication, there will be numerous students and staff (myself included) still wearing masks at school, particularly for the first couple of weeks back after the break. Please remember that the decision to wear a mask or face covering is a personal choice for everyone, and each of our staff and students will be supported in their choice. That said, don’t forget that the federal requirement for anyone who travelled outside Canada over the break to wear a mask for 14 days after their return still applies in indoor and outdoor public spaces (including schools). We will continue to take good care of each other through these difficult and still-uncertain times.

COVID-19 Rapid Antigen Tests

Before the break, we distributed COVID-19 Rapid Antigen Tests to the vast majority of our families. if you didn’t get yours, and you need it, please contact the office and we will make arrangements to get you a kit.

Registration Deadline…

OK, now it’s urgent that you register any new RBE students for September. The deadline to be assured of a spot in our school in September is March 31. After that date, any new registrations will be placed on a waitlist but won’t be guaranteed a spot at RBE. This includes new kindergarten students who already have siblings in the school. If you haven’t registered your 4-year-old yet, please do so before Thursday. Please note: you do not need to register students who currently attend the school.

Student Learning Survey

Each year, the Ministry of Education conducts the Student Learning Survey to find out what students, parents, and staff feel about how things are going in their schools. Particularly if your child is in grade 4 (that’s the student group who are surveyed at RBE), please consider taking a few minutes to complete the survey. We do not use access codes, so you just need to follow the link, scroll down to parents, and use the Direct Access instructions on the right side of the screen.

Thank you, PAC!

We want to thank the PAC for generously purchasing a range of new playground equipment for us this spring. We will have a rolling cart of sports and recreation equipment that will come outside at recess and lunch. We’re excited to have a chance to play tetherball now!

Alternative Fundraiser

Due to the unprecedented nature of COVID-19 we have been limited in the ability to hold regular events to fundraise for our staff and students. This year the PAC would like to offer parents a new way to donate directly to the PAC, for those who do not wish to purchase goods or have limited time to participate in events.

A direct donation of $40 would be the equivalent to your child raising $275 through fundraising activities (Purdy’s, Neufelds, etc.).   Funds raised go towards supporting teachers in their classrooms, busses for field trips, programs such as Dance Pl3y, Saleema Noon and more!

If you wish to make a direct donation, please send an e-transfer to bulpittpac@outlook.com with direct donation in the Message line.  Please note, at this time we are unable to provide tax receipts.

Thank you to those who have contributed!

Next General Meeting

Don’t forget – our next meeting will be Monday, April 4 at 7pm. – all parents are welcome to attend!

Quote(s) of the week

Something to read (or watch)

  • I got through from Emily, an old student of mine, one who works now with kids and families who live with special needs. Some of this language I don’t hear around our school at all. Some I’ve probably used without really thinking.
  • And this was shared with me by another former student…
